How to check bedding sizes before ordering
Measure the mattress and compare actual dimensions instead of relying on the size name alone.
Measure the mattress itself
Record mattress width, length and depth, including a topper if you use one. Take measurements without loose bedding obscuring the edges. Size names can be less helpful than the dimensions in the product specification, particularly when shopping across listings or countries. Compare the stated measurements with your own before ordering. Keep a note so you do not need to measure again for every purchase.
Check fitted-sheet depth
A fitted sheet needs to suit both the surface size and the mattress depth. Read how the seller describes the pocket depth or maximum mattress height, rather than assuming any deep-fitted sheet will work. Think about how easy it will be to put on and remove. Check whether the care instructions mention shrinkage or special washing requirements that matter to your routine.
Compare the rest of the bedding
Measure the duvet and pillows as well as the mattress. A sheet set may include pieces you do not need or pillowcases of a different size from your existing pillows. Check exactly what is supplied and whether you are buying one piece or a set. For mattress protectors, look at fitting style and compatibility with the depth of your mattress and topper.
Choose fabric and care together
Consider the feel you prefer, the washing instructions and how you normally dry bedding. Avoid choosing only on a headline description or an assumed benefit of a material. Check the complete fibre composition and product-care information. Budget for the pieces you need rather than replacing everything at once. Review the returns conditions before opening and using a product if fit is uncertain.
